April 2024 Events

-Friday, April 26: Spring Salad Extravaganza. Rising Sun Church of Christ. 11am-1pm. 430 5th Street, Rising Sun. Buffet-style lunch fundraiser featuring different types of salad. Proceeds help send youth to summer camp. $9 per person. $10 take-out plates. adam.rscc@gmail.com for more info.

May 2024 Events

-Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4: Rising Sun Community-wide Yard Sale. Residents of Rising Sun/Ohio County sell their wares during the Spring yard sale. Residents select their own hours & days to participate.

-Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4: Rising Sun Community-wide Yard Sale. The Phi Beta Psi Sorority presents a yard sale under the pavilion at the Ohio County Visitors Center. 8am-4pm. 217 N. High Street. All proceeds go towards cancer research & Ohio County cancer needs.

-Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4: Rising Sun Community-wide Yard Sale. 10am-2pm. Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #6. 100 N. Mulberry Street, Rising Sun. “Name Your Price” Rummage Sale (unless otherwise specified). Proceeds from the Rummage Sale benefit the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #5. Stop in early Saturday, May 4 from 10am-noon and purchase breakfast burritos for $5ea.

-Saturday, May 18: Cruise-in for the Kids. Fundraising event for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeastern Indiana.$25 per vehicle. All makes/models & motorcycles welcome. $25 per vehicle. (Driver dinner included.) Registration/line-up at Arnold Creek Boat Ramp in Rising Sun from 1:30-2pm. Cruise ends at 15574 US-50, Dillsboro. Door prices, food truck, silent auction. June 2024 Events

-Sunday, June 2, 2024-Craft Market at Geneva’s Homemade Quilts. 4154 State Road 56, Rising Sun. 10am-4pm. Vendors including jewelry, metal art, handbags and more! Food & drinks available. Not responsible for accidents. Vendor space available as of 4.11.2024. For more info: (812) 584-3016.

-Friday, June 7: Ohio River Way Challenge. Making a return visit to the Rising Sun/Ohio County area in 2024 are the Ohio River Way Challenge (ORWC) paddlers. Participants arriving in Rising Sun near the old boat ramp on the afternoon of Friday, June 7, 2024. Participants will eat locally and then spend overnight along the riverfront. They will depart early Saturday, June 8, 2024.

-Saturday, June 8: Rising Sun Summer Fest. Main & Poplar Streets. Downtown Rising Sun. 4-10pm. NOW INCLUDES FIREWORKS! Live Music including STILL KICK’N from 4-6pm and Whoa, Man from 7-10pm. Arts/Crafts, Food Trucks, Kid Zone w/inflatables from Let’s Bounce. FREE ADMISSION. Deejay J.D. Hughes keeps the party going through the evening. Bring your own lawn chairs. Rain or shine. Fireworks begin at 10pm. Sponsors include City of Rising Sun, Rising Sun Community Foundation, Great Plains Communications, Friendship State Bank, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, and First Financial Bank. The fireworks were partially donated as a prize awarded to Summer Fest by BurgerHaus Productions though a drawing.

-Friday, June 14: Flag Day.

-TO BE RESCHEDULED-Saturday, June 15: People Helping People 5K. “Hustle for Hunger” 5K Run/Walk. Register at http://tinyurl.com/2p4mvsk5 Proceeds will help further the organization’s mission through their work in Ohio, Switzerland, Ripley & Dearborn Counties. Monetary donations are also appreciated. Awards include 1st, 2nd & 3rd place ribbons to overall male and female run and walk. There are no age division awards

-Sunday, June 16: Father’s Day.

-Tuesday, June 18: Juneteenth. Many local government agencies are CLOSED.

-Thursday, June 20: First Day of Summer.

-Friday, June 21-Saturday, June 29: Ohio County-Purdue Extension Office 4-H Fair.

-Friday, June 28-People Helping People Golf Outing. 18-hole Golf Scramble. Rain-or-Shine. Held at The Links at Rising Star Casino. 777 Rising Star Drive. Rising Sun. 7:15am registration. Proceeds go to the “People Helping People” organization that donates canned goods to Ohio and local counties. Deadline to enter is Friday, June 14, 2024. $300 per team/$75 per player. Payments to Lawrenceburg Power, LLC, Attn: Lea Parris-Smith, 582 W. Eads Parkway, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025. Checks payable to People Helping People.

July 2024 Events

-Thursday, July 4: Independence Day.

-Saturday, July 6: Rising Sun Stars & Stripes Celebration. Includes Saffire Express from 4-6 and Hank Ruff & the Hellbenders from 7-10pm, Deejay JD Hughes. Foam Happy youth foam party in the Foam Zone. City of Rising Sun/Rising Sun Lion’s Club Fireworks at 10pm. (City’s Rain Date for fireworks only-Sunday, July 7.) Bring your own lawn chairs!

Sunday, July 14: Shiner Pride Car Show presented by the Rising Sun Schools High School Band. Throughout downtown Rising Sun. More info when available on the Shiner Pride Car Show Facebook Page.

-Saturday & Sunday, September 7 & 8: Ohio Valley River Cats 19th annual Open Team Catfish Tournament, in downtown Rising Sun. Applications will be available on April 1, 2024 at 5pm ET will on the River Cats website at ohiovalleyrivercats.com. Captain’s meeting & on-site registration also available at an additional charge.

-Tuesday, September 10: FLOTSAM! River Circus. 6pm. Free performance along the Rising Sun riverfront. Front Street. Donations appreciated. Log on to rivercircus.com for more info. FLOTSAM! is a not-for-profit entity.
